Greetings Ministry Partner,
This is JJ from the North American Mission Board. I pray all is well with you and your church. Here is your first task to help you get ready for Crossover. You have one job: PRAY. S.D. Gordon says, “Prayer is not the only thing we do, just the first thing we do.”
So, pastor, before making any decisions, plans, etc., schedule time over the next few weeks for focused prayer. Invite leaders and stakeholders in your church to join you in this season of prayer. I am reminded of the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel as he was rebuilding the temple:
“Not by strength or by might, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Armies.” Zechariah 4:6
So, neither by military strength (“not by might”) nor by human manpower (“nor by strength”) could the temple be rebuilt, but by the Holy Spirit’s empowerment of the workers! The same is true today. We need the Holy Spirit’s empowerment in the work of reaching out to those who do not know Jesus, so begin with prayer, continue in prayer, and end with praise!
